Windows Phone 8 app with PhoneGap, no support for HTML5 datetime picker why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been working on a Hybrid App for cross platform implication using PhoneGap.

The HTML5 Datetime picker works fine for OS like BB, Android etc., however it fails on windows phone 8. Why?

Does the web view does support HTML5 input types?

  • input types supported by IE10 HTML5 implementation are documented here:

Windows Phone specific limitations and extensions are listed here:

Also, some features which depend upon the browser application host environment are not available when using the WebBrowser control in an SDK application.  For example, features which require display of a separate window or system dialog.  (ex: alert, file picker, password prompt, etc...)

In many cases you can work around these limitations by using window.external.notify(...) in jscript to send a message to your host applications: ScriptNotify event handler in order to perform some action which is not available directly.  The host application can return results to a function you define in your jScript using the WebBrowser.InvokeScript method.
