BUILD Conference Tablet Acquisition... Unable to attend, help needed please.

    Question

  • I was unable to attend the Sept. BUILD event. I have been working on some higher end networking concepts for use in various fields:

namely: Foriegn Language/Emergency Response/Adaptive Technologies as well as others.

I have been a member of the AT&T Developer's Community for about a year or so and had plans on attending the conference but was unable to leave PA at the time.

Does anyone know how I may procure a Tablet since I was unable to attend?

    Thanks!

The tablets given out at BUILD are not publicly available, however, there
are any number of tablets that are publicly available and that work with
Windows 8. If you search the forum you'll find a number of threads on this
and from there you can decide which one you want to purchase.

  • If you were not able to make it to the BUILT event, you can download an install Windows 8 Developer Preview on a desktop, laptop, or tablet.

To download Windows 8 Developer Preview:

  • Thank you,  this is helpful information.

I am running a PC with was built on Windows XP originally, later updated to Vista and is now running Windows 7 Professional.

I am maxed out on nearly all of my  system resources and have filled an external hard drive in the meantime.

As far as you are aware, is there any way to acquire a tablet yet if I was not at the event as I do not have a back-up machine in case I run into issues with recovery  after so many re-incarnations of this machine (1999 vintage)?

    Thanks again.

  • Does anyone know when the Samsung Series 7 Slate PC comes out?  My understanding is that it's very similar to the one they gave out at BUILD.  (Although, I think it doesn't have all the sensors.)
