  • Question

  • Hi,

We have 4 Application and 2 WFE servers in SharePoint 2013.

    CA is working fine.

we are trying to create a web application in SharePoint 2103 through GUI. Web Application is getting created and visible in CA.

But when we are checking at WFE servers, there is no virutal directory is creating nor site is provisioning in IIS on both WFE servers.

    what we did so far.

restart timer service, iis reset, reboot all 6 servers but web application is not visible in IIS as well as are not creating any folder in InetPub directory.

we stopped and restarted Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service on wfe and then web application can be seen in IIS on WFE servers as well as folder created in inetpub directory as well.

Could you please suggest what is wrong is going on.

    Regards,

    Manoj Kumar

  • Hi Manoj,

While you are creating the web application you will get an option to pass the web application url - there you can pass the <WFE server name>:<port no> , by default it takes application server name, generally Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service takes care this to provision to all WFE server, check this service how frequency runs and whether any problem with this service, check the server log.

  • Hi,

Have you solved this issue by stopping and then restarting Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service on WFE servers?

“Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application" service and SharePoint Admin and timer service are required to be up and running on all WFE servers when you create new web application. It is likely that the services were not in place.

I suggest you check system Event Viewer or ULS logs for any possible error message since it would be hard to identify the cause based on your description.

  • Thanks Chelsea,

Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application , Timer service, SP are running on WFE servers.

Timer service, SP are running on App servers

But no luck. though I have increased SharePoint v4 app time to 500 from 90 but still web applications are not getting created.

FYI.. I have disabled Distribution cache service on all servers.
