BingMap mobile app using AJAX v7. Starting with a simple map. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone.  I want to get this functionality to work in a Android app.

    http://www.highwayhistorysites.com/data/mySQL/new-map.php

I know it is not clean at the moment, but I was over the top happy to get it working the way it is now.  I am very new to working with bing maps.

Working on the app, I am using Eclipse with the BingMapAndroidSDK and AJAX v7.  All I want to do initially is get a push in the right direction and get a simple map app displaying a map for a start based on these tools.  I am having a great time learning how to use the eclipse environment and know that once I can figure out where to start writing, I should be able to move it along, but for the life of me, I cant figure out where to start off even after doing a few eclipse based tutorials.  There does not appear to be any tutorials for working with the BingMapsAndroidSDK or building a bing maps app.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

    Chris..

  • Seeing how you already have your app working online I highly recommend using PhoneGap with the Bing Maps V7 AJAX control rather than the Bing Maps Android SDK (which currently tells users to use PhoneGap also). This will save you a lot of time and will also make it so you can deploy your app to iOS and Blackberry.

  • Thank you Richard.  Installing PhoneGap now.  I'll play with that for a while and see what I can do.
