Windows 10 Tech Previews to full version of windows 10 RRS feed

  • Hello I am Phylip Parnell I'm currently running Windows 10 Home Insider Preview Build 10074. I am wondering if I will be able upgrade from the full version of windows 10 when it is released to the public later this year if I am running windows 10 Home Insider Preview Build 10074. I really hope I can I upgrade to the preview from windows 8.1

  • First remember it is a preview, that means there will be bugs that occur.  For instance a couple weeks ago, they released a version that did not run Win32 applications from the start menu, they fixed it last week, but this is why most of us run these systems on a test machine, or in a virtual machine.

    As far as your specific question, I don't think anyone knows.  Microsoft would prefer to make things as seamless as possible, but there are lots of reasons that the may require wiping out the preview system, before installing the release system.

  • I have not any problems with windows 10 on my Personal PC I installed it on a old laptop computer that had widnwos 7 on it and it has had trouble running windows Tech Preview. It has been glitching, freezing. But my primary computer nothing like that has happened.

  • Well 10074 had the fix, it was in the previous version 10069. But I used that to illustrate that you should recognize this is test software, it will not be a solid as a released version. This has always been the case, with software, BETA software is likely to have bugs.
