how to retrive GPS Data on Windows CE 5.0 devices using the GPS Intermediate Driver RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi there!
I'm a newbie in programming in C# and in programmig applications running on Windows CE 5.0 devices.
I have to develop an application running on Windows CE 5.0 (ARM920 processor) accessing the gps data.
The Deivce is a BECKER TRAFFIC ASSIST.
I found a very well documentated gps example application written in C#
and using the GPS Intermediate Driver - shipped with the Visual Studio 2008
    (C:\Programm Files\Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK R2\Samples\PocketPC\Cs\Gps\Gpssample)
but unfortunately it is even written for PocketPC and not for Windows CE 5.0.
Is there something similar like the GPS Intermediate Driver for Windows CE 5.0?
and where to get it? or does exist any third party solution ideally easy to implement in a C# application?
    can someone help me?

  • Hi,
the Intermediate Driver needs to be part of the Operating System!  (in most cases it will not on CE Devices)
When this is not the case you have to directly Access the Comport via a 3rd Party Libary or your own NMEA Interpreter.
    3rd Party I can recommend: http://www.geoframeworks.com/

  • Hi Amit,

The GPS application your link refers to      seems to be a Windows Mobile CE 5.0 application
and it will take a while untill I'll be able to port it to WinCE, if any.
so I think I try first the GeoFrameworks solution for WinCE 5.0
    thanks a lot anyway

    best regards Alek
