TF30177: Team Project Creation Failed -> TFS 2010 Beta 2

    Question

  • Hi,

my problem is that my reporting services url is populating to the client the server name instead of the full domain name. if i run the below url then i get nothing, but once I run the full URL like it is configured abc.def.com/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx i receive the needed content.

how the heck Visual Studio gets the server name.

in my tfs 2010 there db there is tbl_LocationMapping table and the content of it shows also to the abc.def.com url ... i'm out of ideas

    Error
Unable to connect to the specified SQL Server Reporting Services at http://<servername>/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx.
    Explanation
The Project Creation Wizard was not able to connect to the SQL Server Reporting Services at http://swrbsltfs01/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx. The reason for the failed connection cannot be determined at this time. Because the connection failed, the wizard was not able to complete creating the SQL Server Reporting Services site.
    User Action
Contact the administrator for the SQL Server Reporting Services at http://<servername>/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx to confirm that the server is available on the network and you have sufficient privileges to create a project. Also, you might find additional helpful information in the project creation log. The log shows each action taken by the wizard at the time of the failure and may include additional details about the error.

  • Well it seems I solved the problem by removing the VSTS client cache on my client machine in the following folder:

    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\3.0\

Closed team explorer 2010 on the client and renamed the cache folder from “cache” to “_cache”

Once I did that and I reconnected to create a new project everything run successfully.
