  • nonameis,

The Windows Developer Preview will only allow apps to load if the screen resolution is a minimum of 1024 by 768.  Others with small netbooks are experiencing this issue.  Please check if that is th e case.

I had the same problem when initially installed on my VirtualBox VM. I ran windows Update and they started working. Are you sure you're up to date?

Don't use a Live ID account. Either create a new local account, or revert the one you're using to a local one.

  • You need at least 1024 columns and 768 rows for the metro apps to work. For Intel GMA devices there is a registry workaround to enable larger (albeit compressed) resolutions on the small screen: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=80812

  • If you install the drivers:  Broadcom Crystal HD Video Decoder Driver  and Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver  (if it fails, install it in compatibility mode), then you can set the resolution to 1024x768 and the metro ui apps work.  It does by compressing the extra pixels those, so everything gets a little warped, but it at least works.
