.Net Framework verification issu RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having trouble installing Turbo Tax 2009. I initially got a 1603 error message. I followed a procedure that the TT technical people suggested the involved uninstalling .net framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 sp1. They next suggested an approach to reinstall those .net versions. Once I did that I couldn't get the TT software to verify the .net softwawre. Any suggestions about what might have happened? Is there a sequence that I need to follow in reinstalling the versions and is it necessary for me to have version 1.0 and 1.1 on my system? I have Vista Ulitmate. Thanks I hope you can help me and others that may have the same issue.

  • Hi Bingjr,

    Thank you for your post.

Referring to removal of the .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 on Windows Vista, it depends on the applications that are ran on your PC. If there is no application based on .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1. You can remove it from your machine.

For your concern on re-installing .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1, could you please help me to try the following steps:

Firstly, please check whether you have turned on the windows feature of .NET Framework 3.0.
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Check the box next to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.

Secondly, use Verification Tool to verify .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. If .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 cannot be verified on your computer, you can try to follow the steps mentioned in the following blog to repair the .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 on Windows Vista.
    See: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2007/03/26/how-to-repair-the-net-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.aspx
If .NET Framework 3.5 is not verified, please remove and reinstall it.

Then download .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) which will also install .NET 2.0 and 3.0 and install it.

If no avail, could you please try to use collect tool to collect the log files of .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 from your "%temp%" folder?
    http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/archive/2008/05/09/visual-studio-and-net-log-collection-utility.aspx

    Steps:
    - Try to clean your "%temp%" folder
    - Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (The installer must be run with administrator privileges - Right click the installer >> Click "Run as administrator")
    - Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder
    - Send vslogs.cab file to me (v-yicche@microsoft.com)

Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.
