WMV 9 Codec produces different decoding results for every run RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am using Windows Media Video 9 codec to decode a video file with wmv8 video.  The decoding goes smoothly and the result look good.  However, for every run, the results are different.  I am looking at the raw YUV data.  The total number of frames is the same.  In some frames, there are a lot of bytes differing by 1, some by 2 and even more.  That's why when you play back the yuv file, you don't feel the difference.  But I am wondering why the same program could produce different results?  Is there any inherent reason in the codec design or something else?  Thank you so much!

  • I tried to output RGb24 result and it's still different for every run... any suggestion?

  • I am just wondering if this is a bug of WMV decoder? Like some noncritical variables are not initialized? Anybody helps?
