  • Question

  • Can someone help me with this problem? Suddenly the FIM service won’t start. I have checked all permission but couldn’t find anything out of place. Has anyone else have this problem?

The server encountered an unexpected error and stopped.

  • Hi,

I had the same issue and came across this article.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2560890

Stopping and starting the userprofile synchronisation service AND making an iisreset did solve the issue.

Applying SP1 was NOT necessary for solving this particular issue.

Please also note this post http://blog.bugrapostaci.com/tag/kb2560890/ which however states that there are more fundamental issues with the security updatefrom MS, which requires SP1 to be solved

  • Hi Kurt,

Make sure that you have SP1 installed on your servers, if you still get this error then go to Windows Services and check FIM Service identity user have AD Replication Directory permissions ? if not then assign Directory Replication permission and restart the service.

  • i'm having the same problem.

Seems that these started after installing SP1.

I ran the configuration wizard, but still keep getting these errors.

Also, the data from user profiles is not the same as the data from user information

  • I havent installed the SP1 for Sharepoint. But I hope that i can resolve this problem after patching the server.

  • The Configuration Wizard does not touch the Sync database.  You could try re-provisioning the Sync database:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff681014.aspx#resetSync

Typically though, the OP's error just requires stopping and then starting the User Profile Sync.

  • See someone blogged about this error with June 2011 CU:http://www.moss2007.be/blogs/timmy/archive/2011/07/15/sharepoint-2010-sp1-issues.aspx. I cannot verify this since i had not installed this CU, i installed Aug. 2011 CU.

Could you please install Aug. 2011 CU in test environment first to see if this can be solved?

And i had see similar incident in internal support database which says it can be solved by adding the Farm Account into local administrator group and restart the profile sync. service.

  •

Have checked Your UPA services A/C have sufficient privilege on AD  , Check group Policy  also For  Your Services A/c its permission related Issue .

    • Check permission of services A/c as require on AD
    • Check group policy
    • Check user privilege On DB server
    • Your Services A/c should be part of  AD  administrator

After that You can  created new UPA services , Del timer Job , Old UPA Services application etc

You can create manual or through Wizard as well

I have tested and pretty much sure it will work
