How to include USB Modem (usbser.sys) RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI All,

We have developed a Serial to USB converter which works perfectly well on Windows XP and am now trying to make it work under WES7. The converter use the generic USB modem driver, usbser.sys, unfortunately this doesn't seem to be included as standard on Windows 7 or WES7. I beleive usbser.sys can be installed via a hotfix but wanted to see whether this would be the recommended way of installing the driver? Ideally I'd like the driver made available in IBW.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Thanks

  • In WES7, The Compaq USB Modem Driver package contains the usbser.sys file you are looking for. You can try it out to see if it works with your modem.

When you plug the device into a Windows 7 system does it install the driver or ask to search the internet for the driver?
