Cost of Azure Stack and Windows Server 2016? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the end,  is Azure Stack an additional service that is installed on Windows Server 2016 or is it included?

    Any estimate on cost?

I assume no usage or monthly costs after that,  we own it and no additional costs based on cpu or data usage, correct?

    Expected release date?

    Thanks,

    Ron

  • Hi Ron,

Azure Stack is a platform solution powered by a number of Server 2016 technologies. You can see here for a rundown of the number of VMs and their roles in the Tech Preview as an idea of how the platform is architected...

GA release is targeted for mid-year, and will be delivered as a complete Integrated Hardware System from either HPE, Lenovo or Dell. The entire platform and associated hardware will come pre-built with an automated deployment process.

Depending on if you are a Service Provider or Enterprise user there are different commercial agreements available from Microsoft. I would suggest getting in contact with them, or a partner, and having a discussion as there are some things not being discussed publicly yet.

Usage based monthly costs are definitely an option.

I would suggest the recent Ignite sessions for a great walk through of how Azure Stack operates...

    Hope that is useful.

    Chris.
