Need help resolving an error... The "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" provider is not registered on the local machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Visual Studio 2008 Standard installed on my Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition with SP2. I tried to run a small program today and got the above message about the provider not being registered on the local machine. I am looking for a solution to register this provider. Thanks.

  • Hello Roahn Luo,

Thanks for your reply. After I posed the question yesterday I found some other material for my issue. What I did was to set the Target CPU to x86 inside of Visual Studio 2008 and then ran a new build for the program. This time I was able to read the records from a sample Access database both from the build executable and also by starting the debugging option in Visual Studio.

Thanks again and have a great day.
