Data Management Gateway & Custom Activity RRS feed

  • Question

  • There are situations where you want data stored as Azure Blobs (such as XML documents) to be migrated back to on premise file system.

CopyActivity does not, I believe, allow you to preserve the FileName - you can only create a new file name using partition information.

Historically, Data Factory did not support Custom Activities using Data Management Gateway.

So my question is, is there any support available, or planned, to allow control of the filename output on-premise, or to allow a Custom Activity to interact with the Data Management gateway?

  • Please use "PreserveHierarchy" as your "copyBehavior" to reserve source filenames. Details can be found in this docs: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/data-factory-onprem-file-system-connector/

Direct communication between DotNetActivity and DMG is not possible at this stage.
