XML file loaded from a RESX file gives me some garbage UTF characters RRS feed

  • Question

  • The character I know is coming up as incorrect is “…” (the ellipse).  But it appears as “…“ (three characters).  What am I doing wrong?  The text file is saved as Unicode (UTF-8).

  • I tested this in a completely different project (Windows Forms based instead of WPF).  Same exact issue--until I changed from UTF-8 to UTF-32.  Could .NET have problems reading UTF-8 files from resources?

  • This is proving to be problematic.  My projects use SVN for source version control.  It seems that the only Unicode format SVN (or at least TortoiseSVN) supports is UTF-8.  Trouble is, that is the encoding causing me problems in my .NET code.  So I can't check in any working version of the file.  Does anyone know of a way to force .NET to load the UTF-8 version correctly?
