Blend Preview for Silverlight 5 expired RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was using Expression Blend Preview for Silverlight 5 for a few months and it expired. I believe I have the latest version. I then downloaded Blend + SketchFlow Preview for Visual Studio 2012. Now that's expired as well.

Any idea when the retail versions will be coming out? Or can anyone suggest alternatives while we wait.

  • The supported RTM version for Silverlight development is Blend for Visual Studio 2012, with VS update 2 applied. With update 2, WPF and Silverlight development are both fully supported.

Does this run on Windows 7 or do you have to have Windows 8?

I am running Windows 7 and the only Blend showing in my VS2012 program group is Blend + Sketchflow Preview for Silverlight 5 - not Blend for VS 2012. On my Windows 8 laptop, the Blend for VS 2012 shows up and the Preview does not. Do I need to reinstall something?

    Thanks,

  • What VS do you have installed on your Windows 7 machine? I believe it should be available on Windows 7 for SL/WPF (not Windows Store apps), but I don't have a Windows 7 machine in front of me to try it.

  • I have Visual Studio 2012 with Update 3. I went into the installation of VS2012 and found that I didn't install it originally because it originally only was for Windows 8 apps, and I wasn't running Windows 8. So I am installing it now, and then I suppose I should reinstall Update 3?

    Thank you,

  • Not sure whether it will install the update 3 version of Blend or not, if you open Blend and it has a blank list for new projects, you have the original Windows Store apps only version.
