The latest SQL Server Developer Edition is a free download. See https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-downloads

you can have any version as latest as SQL Server 2017
I have in my Windows 10 laptop 4 SQLServer instances SQL 2012, 2014,2016 and 2017 side by side with all the related features (SSRS,SSIS,SSAS) installed

Hi Noga Woronoff,
>> I am a DBA on Windows 10 at work and wonder which developer edition should I use?
The version of SQL Server Developer depends on the version of your Windows operating system, for instance, it’s unsupported if you install SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows 10. For more information, you may refer to Using SQL Server in Windows 8 and later versions of Windows operating system.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
