  • Question

  • Hi,

We wanted to confirm following thing.

We have used following bing map route service in C# to get the distance between points.   http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/routeservice/routeservice.svc?wsdl. Is this service will work after 30 June Or it will retire. If it retire what is equivalent to it.

Also we used following service https://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/V1/Routes/Driving. Is this service will work after 30 June Or It is retire and if it retire what is equivalent to it.

    Thanks!

  • The first URL is for the old soap services which are also being taken offline at the end of June. The second URL is for the bing maps rest services which are the primary service used by developers. There are no plans to take that service offline and is the recommended migrate path for those using the soap services.

  • Hi,

We have one more question, We are using silverlight control to plot records on map. Is silverlight control will work or we need to upgrade. For upgrade silverlight control can you please provide document or sample code.

    We used following silverlight services.

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/routeservice/routeservice.svc

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/searchservice/searchservice.svc

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/geocode

    Waiting for your reply.

    Thanks!

  • All of those URLs your provided are not part of the Silverlight control, they are part of the old SOAP services which are being turned off in a few weeks. These should be migrated to the REST services. If using .NET here is a easy to use toolkit: https://github.com/Microsoft/BingMapsRestToolkit
