How to disable Spanning Tree Algorithm (STA) in Windows 8 Embedded? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, i have a trouble with disabling STA in Windows 8 Embedded. I have too 2 NIC's connected together as bridge in Windows.
In Windows 7 OS's i can add Value "DisableSTA = 1 (DWORD)" in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BridgeMP" Windows's registry and it's working fine, but in Windows 8 OS's (stricte Embedded version) i dont see "BridgeMP" in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services" tree. When i try add "BridgeMP" location in tree of registry manually and next add value like in Windows 7 - "DisableSTA = 1 (DWORD) it's not working at all. In Windows 10 OS's is the same.

  • Instead of BridgeMP, look for MsBridge in Windows 10. Just found it myself. It's only visible when the bridge physically exists, otherwise the service is stopped and the key's not loaded. It gets it's default values from ControlSet001 i believe. Might want to change the value there too.
