[URGENT] Windows Phone app missing from the store! NOT SEARCHABLE

    General discussion

One of my app 'Bitbot', related to cryptocurrency market [Bitcoin, Litecoin, altcoin] is missing too. I've tried searching for it on Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.

Seriously, it've always been a losing business supporting that in fact more than $100 / month on 2 VPS, mobile service, & database.
I'm only doing so out of interest and my love for the platform. Despite barely scraping 30 downloads per day, not even enough to recover 10% of the cost.
Does this even look like a crap app to you??

I've tried contacting support, and what I got was that 'they are improving the store' and failed to give me a good explanation on why it is completely missing.  Even MSDN is full of complains like that and they're totally ignoring it.

I'm giving up, can you imagine 10 of your apps missing just like this and downloads crashing to 0 from 4000 / day? I'm focusing on iOS development now..

So much for being with the platform since Windows Phone 7 launch, and I've been refusing to write for iOS and Android.

  • The game does not appears in Store search. But if you entering the direct link it allows you to reach an app and download it.

    Here the direct links:

    URL for Windows 10
    https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9wzdncrdzvbf

URL for Windows Phone 8.1 and earlier
    http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=8aca569e-6414-428e-ae98-d60a9f839141

Here the reach results in Windows Phone store:
    https://www.windowsphone.com/ru-ru/search?q=pixel+gun+3d
(Pixel Gun Free - it's a fake, this is not our game. Our game name is Pixel Gun 3D)

  • Win10 app store search has been broken since insider time, the only work around is to use keywords in your app name, it seems tricks the search engine to pick up your app. Last time I talked to a store support, they don't have any idea when or if the search engine be fixed to keywords.

The problem being the app is completely missing. Not even searching the exact app title yield any result.

  • Any updates?
The store algorithms flagged the app as a 'crap app' and it is completely disappeared from search, there's simply no way for you to find it with any tags or title you've used.

Sure, the app can still be downloaded via direct links BUT WHAT is the point for me to publish my app if it is never visible in the first place? (As said by the support by the countless ticket I've raised. They're clearly still avoiding my issue entirely and not willing to give a reasonable answer)

Working on android and iOS apps now, this is just silly... I've given up.
Not only I suffer from the limited users in Windows, and the fact that Microsoft only wants apps from big names.

Better get out of the titanic before it sinks..

  • Hi, thanks for ignoring.

It looks like it does not pay at all, developing solely for Windows exclusive since WP7.
I suppose only major titles on Android and iOS are welcomed, or those coming from Rudy Hyun.

It is an irony, given how I refuse to work on Android apps in the past. The fact that I made my very first android app was due to my Windows apps being hidden from the store. YES.

For all other developer here suffering from the same issue, I would urge you to switch platforms now. There are simply so much more user on Android and iOS, not to mention you do not have to put up with crap like this. AND there are almost 100% fill rate from AdMob in every single region.

  • Hey,

I am facing the same issue with windows store that has caused 2 of my OLD apps not searchable. These 2 apps are more than 2 years old & has got more than 1 million downloads and were receiving more than  5k daily downloads. But since,  7 january 2016, these apps are not searchable from the store and downloads have been dropped to 90%. Please reply if you are facing same issue.

What reply you have got from microsoft for your ticket?

A standard reply, similar to what everyone is getting.

"We are currently improving the store search..... however your app is downloadable via deep link"
Bam, ticket closed. They don't even bother following up.

  • I'm running into the same issue!
    Wednesday, January 13, 2016 7:48 AM
  • Same problem here, one app removed from the store.

Also, the amount from the Reserved category in the Payout summary has been missing (it wasn't big amount). And this lasts for 3 months now, still not resolved. And the support is miserable. There is really no reason to stay developing for Win platform anymore.

  • Same here. My apps are private, just for fun. But it's very frustrating that they are not visible in the store anymore.

  • Hi,

I published an app, but it's not available to customers even if it should be "Free and available to customers."

The app is available only with the direct link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/predica-de-pe-munte/9nblggh5f6k0

    How can I escalate this?

    thanks

    Andrei

  • Windows Store emailed me last week and said that my apps will be visible this week. And yeah! My apps became visible!!!

But yesterday, I published another app but then lol all my apps have gone missing again, except for one app that I consider my crappiest one.

  • Yep as I said, only popular apps from Android or iOS are allowed into the Windows store.
Forget about you targeting a niche group of user ;) because the search algorithms will just flag it as crap and never show it up.

Anyway, I'm fully done with my android port of 'Bitbot'. It will probably be available next week.
Will no longer be bothered about WP/W10.

    Saturday, January 23, 2016 6:41 AM
  • Finally released on Google Play.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitcoin.bitbot

Thanks guys ;) for encouraging me to move out of Windows for the first time, although the app have finally shown up in the Windows Store after more than 2 months of disappearance.
Windows Phone version will be of the least priority for my update cycle now.

  • Hi LastBattle,

Sorry for the delay on this topic. Your app has been investigated and it has returned to the search results.

    Best regards,
