MFC in Visual C++ 2008 versus MFC in eVC 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I am wondering why exactly is MFC for smart devices (let's say Pocket PC 2003) in Visual Studio 2008 way slower than the one in eVC 4.0.

    I made a simple test:
    CString test=_T("");
    for(int
    i=0; i<100000; i++){
        test.Format(_T("test: %d %d %d %d %d..."),i,i,i,i,i);

    and the code compiled in eVC 4.0 works almost one time faster than the one compiled in MSVC2008.

    What's new and changed in MFC for MSVC2008?
    What is the cause of this slowdown?

    Thank you and best regards,
    Andrej

  • Wouldn't you run the eVC compiled code on an emulator or a 200 MHz CPU?  That would explain it easily.  Post to the Smart Devices forum, left behind at the old forums web site if you want an authoritative answer rather than a guess.
