Change Windows Password cant login sql server with windows authen RRS feed

    I installed sqlserver 2005 on NoteBooK( Vista OS ) with Mix authenticate. Later on I change my password on Windows, ISince then I can not login to sqlserver with windows authen any more. I can not run [surface area configuration for feature] neither. It report error  [login Failed for user 'Machinename\Username' (Error 18456)]

    How to set sqlsvr to trust windows again??

  • Try running the User Provisioning Tool and provisioning the user again.  You can find the tool in the following location:

     

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlprov.exe

     

    What is the exact error in the SQL Server ErrorLog for 18456?  The State information will provide specifically why the login failed.  I blogged about this on the following blog:

    Most of the information is from the link at the bottom of the blog post from the SQL Team at Microsoft.  I just combined it all into a single table since some of the information is in the comments on the original post.
