Unable to add second node to Hyper-V Cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • I  am able to cluster my first node and everything appears "well". When I try adding additional nodes which are configured identically save for IP addresses I get an error: The server 'xxx" could not be added to the cluster. An error ocurred while adding node 'xxx" to the cluster 'xxx". The Service has not been started.

Has anyone else experienced this?  All servers are identical hardware and software configuration wise. Running 2008 R2 Datacenter RTM. The cluster validation tool only returned a warning for networking. The same two ports on each of the nodes appear to be on the same "subnet". They have not been assigned an IP address, so they are getting 169.254.xx addresses. Could this be causing the issue?

  • I have the same issue.  Hey Microsoft, if you're serious about getting Hyper V taken seriously you need to get people on these forums helping us out.  VMWare didn't get to where they're at by ignoring their users.

  • Yes, you should assign IP address first.
