Server 2008 Security configured to prevent download of SQLServer Sample Databases RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I change the Security Configuration on Windows Server 2008 in order to allow download of the installers (and anything else I may need) in order to eventually be able to play with the AdventureWorks saple database?

On the Codeplex database product samples page they are kind enough to point out (correctly, as it turns out) that my default Server 2008 security config will not allow the download of the installers.

    All help much appreciated.

  • Just an idea: How about downloading the zip instead?

  • That's a very practical solution Tibork, but I guess I'd also like to learn how to actually manage my O/S environment to handle this kind of simple (I'm guessing) configuration change.

(Actually in lieu of figuring out how to run the installer on that particuliar box--a VM--I just downloaded everything thing to my Host ) O/S, which, for whatever reason, did not have a problem with it.)

Thanks for taking the time to help me, Tibork.

  • Understandable. I see now that this thread has been moved to a Windows Server forum, which is a better place for the topic. I can't say about this, but hopefully somebody else in thos forum will be able to comment.
