Project XML format RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
Does Project 2010 expand the XML format for Import/export? If yes where do I find the updated definition schema (mspdi.xsd)

I have also discovered some strange issues in MSP2010 when importing an xml file generated with Project2003 (imported from third party app). Sometimes the links between tasks are not imported correctly as the links are swapped to link to other tasks than the original ones...has anyone discovered the same issues?

  • See the link to the Project 2010 Beta SDK download on the Project Developer Center (Project 2010 Beta). The download includes the mspdi_pj145.xsd. When you install the SDK download, it will be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Project 2010\Documentation\Schemas\Project Client (on a 64-bit OS).

Project does not expand the XML format, it imports as-is. There are errors in a few elements in Project 2007 and 2003 exports. For example, see the WorkWeek Element in the Project 2007 SDK.

You can get the Project 2007 XML schema from http://schemas.microsoft.com/project/2007/, and also in the Project 2007 SDK download.

  • Hi Christie,

The beta SDK download is superseded by the RTM release of the Project 2010 download. After you install the download, mspdi_pj14.xsd is in the Documentation\Schemas\Project Client subdirectory.

You can always find links to the latest releases in the Project 2010 Development portal.
