  • Question

  • Hi,

I'd like to learn Expression Blend, I've never use it (well, only some tests...) and I'd like to know which book do you think that would be the best for beginners?

I have a good background on WPF and XAML, and of course C# :)

    Cheers.

  • But that videos seem to be for Silverlight 2, and I'd like to learn with WPF.  It doesn't make sense learn now Silverlight2 when the 3 is about to be released :)

I saw a lot of books in amazon, and several of them have good critics, but I don't know what choose. The link of learnwpf seems to be out dated because it talks about "pre order", so in that moment those were not available.

    Cheers.

  • Howdy,

As one of the authors of one of those books (Expression Blend Unleashed) I can tell you that the content is still relevant and I can’t speak for the other books, but mine was based on WPF only.

I am writing a totally new book for Blend3 but I can’t tell you when it will be finished or even when the product will be out.

The main thing to understand is that the base concepts of WPF will remain the same, with the new versions bringing additional tooling features.

    HTH

    Cheers

  • Hi!

Your book is in my "cross-hair" actually. I guess I must start with Blend 2 as there is still not material for Blend 3.

    Thanks!

  • Blend 3 is still in Preview, during/after release of Blend 3 either one or other book will be available shortly.

  • from my point of view i see that videos are more helpful than books
I would suggest "Total Training for Microsoft Expression Blend" hosted by Dante Gagne . Here is a link for the course outline http://www.totaltraining.com/prod/outlines/microsoft/expblend.asp
    It runs for 8.2 Hrs.
