per-file contiguous bit for fast file access RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the description of the exFAT file system:

per-file contiguous bit for fast file access

    (See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955704?wa=wsignin1.0)

What in the world is "per-file contiguous bit" supposed to mean?

  • I imagine it is file storage in a completely unfragmented fashion - all bits constituting the file are contiguous in the storage medium.
