  • I need to count the number of non blank cells in a filtered column that has both alpha and numeric data.

  • Use

    =SUBTOTAL(3, A2:A100)

    where A2:A100 is the range. SUBTOTAL by default excludes rows hidden by filtering, and the first argument 3 corresponds to COUNTA: count non-blank cells.

  • but it does not consider numeric and alpha charters. some of my cell contain ie.... 8976654 and HVD780. count and counta do not count alpha charters.

  • Did you actually try it?

    COUNT includes only numeric values.

    COUNTA counts non-blank cells - both numeric and alphanumeric values.
