Visual Studio and Reporting RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I have noticed similar threads but wish to confirm with an updated answer. I found the link below:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb885185.aspx

This, to me, indicates that Visual Studio 2012 should have its own report designer and report viewer. These two are separated components, the viewer allowing to show the content generated by the design report file. It seems one does not have to purchase a separate report designer / viewer (unless specific functionality required) when wanting to generate reports from Visual Studio / C#. is this component available for all 'paid for' visual studio editions? (assuming Express editions does not have this).

Are there any other considerations (taking into account reporting tools like Crystal and Fast Reports

Also, does the report designer allow the 'enduser' to modify the report layouts? Or can this only be done from within the Visual Studio IDE.

    Kindest Regards
