    Is there a way to, given a file chosen by the user, open a file in the same folder? For example, if the user opens C:\Users\Username\...\image.png, is my App allowed to open C:\Users\Username\...\image.xml without any use input?

    How is the user choosing the file?

    If they are launching the file to activate the app then this is possible. Check your activation args.

    If they are using a file pocket then it grants access only to the picked file. You can have the user pick a folder instead to get access to all of its contents.
