How much does it cost to get HCK certificates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Following the "Windows Hardware Certification Step-by-Step Guide", I have created a submission package (.hckx file).

Before I submit the package to Microsoft for certification, I still have some questions:

    1. What is the total cost for getting the certificate? (i could not find any information about this from MS, nor googling).

    2. How long will it take to the certificate?

    3. After I get the certificate, if I have to modify the driver code, do I need re-submit a new package (.hckx file) for a new certificate? In this case, do I need pay Microsoft again?

    Thank for your help.

Fees must be paid in US funds by check or wire transfer. Submissions under $1500.00 (US) may use credit cards. Fees are assessed on a per-submission basis. Each submission's total fee is based on the number of operating system families that are included in the submission. Localized driver packages may be included with any submissions without any extra charge. The minimum fee per submission is $100.00 for a device or system submission. The maximum fee per submission is $1,000.00 for a device or system submission.

  • DO NOT submit a certification test package that contains fail results.  You'll have wasted your submission fee.

In certain cases, you may do so if you've been in contact with the SysDev folks and have received the OK to do so.

  • I have another question regarding driver submission.

If I need to certify 14 drivers for Windows 8 x86/amd64 to get Windows Logo and I upload a submission with all merged in 1 package (14 drivers, 14 inf files and 28 catalogs for each driver and platform), do I have a 14 x $250 fee or just $250?.

    Thank you.

In your case, you need pay 14 x $250 submission fee due to you have 14 drivers(include 14 inf files) even ther are merged in 1 submission package. You will gets 28 signature file after submission pass.

But I will suggest to submit 14 package for echo driver if you will enabled WU (Windows Update) service for your driver. You need pay the same submission fee. 14 x $250.

    Thanks, Steve

  • Hi,

We, in Ixia Technologies, want to get a Virtual Miniport Driver Signed. We don't want the Logo, only we want seamless install of our driver in Win 8 (32 & 64 bit systems) as well as Win 2012 Server.

What is the expected cost for getting this driver signed?

    Regards,

    Rajrup.

  • Hi Rajrup,

Since the begin of this year Windows hardware certification requirement was changed, your expected submission is already changed to no charge. Pleas refer the document descibed below.
