Visual Tools for Developing Image Analysis Functions / Routines RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Robotics Studio should have a turn key way to incorporate USB cameras, access the feed and develop machine vision algorithims using a visual environment.  A video feed should be incorparble as an object or control with a great number of basic and advanced fuctions.

There's a camera currently out there called the CMU cam that enables something very similar to this with a Java application they have developed.

This would be better as functionality could easily be embedded in a robotics studio application and most USB cameras could be supported (no special hardware needed).  The inclusion of stereo vision functions and such would also be great.

  • Have a look to the MSRS Webcam service, and for image processing example check the service called SimpleVision located in directory [1]. It basically does what you say, it can use any compatible USB cam (even the SimulatedWebcam).

As per the stereo vision, I believe you can use any number of cameras within MSRS. In fact, I've seen a post under the simulation cetegory where four simulated cameras are used simultaneously.
