Tiles in Dev Preview not appearing

    Question

  • Okay, I'm sure Win8 was not intended to be used with an old CRT screen, particularly a small one, so this maybe something I'll just need to deal with by putting a modern monitor on, but I ran into the following:

Upon booting all I see is a green screen.  No tiles, nothing.  I move my mouse to the lower left and, of course, the Start menu comes up.  However, nothing happens when I click the Start icon.  If I press the Windows key on the keyboard, for the briefest of seconds I see a flash on the screen of all the tiles, but then they disappear.  I'm wondering if there's a minimum resolution that the interface works with.  The legacy desktop screens seem to work okay.

  • I don't have a old CTR screen, I have a loptop Toshiba complety NEW and I've install the Windows 8 64bit and everything when awesome until it finished with no tiles on the screen.  I just restarted the laptop and everything is there like magic.  Good luck !

  • I have found that killing Windows Explorer in the task manager will fix it. Happen to my Dev. laptop while a friend was using it. I have not found the root cause but I am still searching
