  • Hi RAFIRNA,

According to the error message, the problem seems to be related to the missing of WMI provider. Could you please tell us the version of your installed SQL Server and your operating system.

And please try to do the following workaround:

    1. Open a command prompt as administrator.
    2. Press ENTER:

mofcomp "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server\number\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"(number is the compatibility level for SQL Server)

    1. After run the Mofcomp tool, restart the WMI service(The service name is Windows management Instrumentation) for the changes to take effect.

  • Hi RAFIRNA,

Have you deleted or hidden the Program Files (x86) folder before.

Could you please copy the command mofcomp "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof" and run it in the command prompt as administrator. Then please tell us the result.

  • Hi RAFIRNA,

    Please refer to the article.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2387686/fix-a-mof-syntax-error-occurred-error-message-occurs-when-you-try-to-i

If it is possible, I would suggest you uninstalling the SQL Server cleanly via the following steps and then reinstalling it.

    1. Go to "Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features" to remove SQL Server and their components.

    2. Back up the registry.

    3. Delete the following keys in regedit:

    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server

     --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer

Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" to delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server

Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services" to delete all the keys referencing SQL Server

    4. Remove all the SQL Server folders in your machine.

    5. Reboot your machine.

    Best Regards,

    Emily
