Exchange 2007 and 2010: Change UserMailbox's Database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have both exchange 2007 and 2010 and I would like to change user mailbox's databases.

    Exchange 2010 case:-

We do have a parameter "Database" in the Set-Mailbox cmdlet. I thought I can use this, however I get error "Rehoming mailbox "" to database "". This operation will only modify the mailbox's Active Directory configuration. Be aware that the current mailbox content will become inaccessible to the user."

We do have another cmdlet "New-MoveRequest" - is this the right cmd to change usermailbox's database? If I use this all the contents in the user's mailbox will be moved and user will be able to access them in the new DB ?

    Exchange 2007:-

Set-Mailbox does not have "Database" parameter.

However we do have another cmdlet "Move-Mailbox" - is this the right cmd to change usermailbox's database? If I use this all the contents in the user's mailbox will be moved and user will be able to access them in the new DB ?

    Please help. Thanks!
