Backup On-Premise VMWare workloads to Azure. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have workloads to be backed up from On-Premise VMWare to Azure.

Kindly let us know feasibility of using DPM or MABS?

Is it possible to go with on IaaS Azure VM? Need to avoid dependency with On-Premise front.

  • For IaaS Azure VMs --> Do you mean instead of backup do you like to migrate these VMs as IaaS?

  • Hi Kirthi,

    supported scenarios for DPM/MABS

DPM running as an Azure virtual machine can't protect on-premises data.

    Scenario

    Agent

    Location

    Back up on-premises machines/workloads

DPM/MABS protection agent runs on the machines that you want to back up.

The MARS agent on DPM/MABS server.
The minimum version of the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services agent, or Azure Backup agent, required to enable this feature is 2.0.8719.0.

    DPM/MABS must be running on-premises.

    Back up of Azure VMs/workloads

DPM/MABS protection agent on protected machine.

The MARS agent on DPM/MABS server.

DPM/MABS must be running on an Azure VM.
