Keyword not supported: 'provider'. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

i try to connect to sqlserver 2005 by vb.net and when i define the connection string it gives me the message Keyword not supported: 'provider'.

    and my connection string was "Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=mokhdb;Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS"

    and i try also this one "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=mokhdb;Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS"

    thanks in advance.

  • If you are using an SqlConnection do not use provider in the connection string because the sql connections already knows which one to use.  Provider will work with an odbcconnection or oledbconnection
