    Question

  • When running a one way migration I am receiving the following error:

I have seen other posts about this error revolving around not having enough space for IIS log files, so I moved the logfiles to a drive with 1.2TB of free space.  I have also tried to run this as an administrator but still receive the error.

The change being processed is quiet large and has 11830 change actions.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

Do you mean you are using TFS Integration Tools?

What are the versions of your source TFS and target TFS?

As far as I know, if you want to have a one-way migration, the permissions below are needed:

On the source you need enough rights to read the data, on the machine on which you are running the TFS Integration Tools you need admin rights and on the target you need to be a member of the Project Collection Service Accounts group and have write access to the target team project. Please double check your permissions.

Also, you may try to use another account to run TFS Integration Job Service to see whether you still experience this issue.

  • I am using the TFS Integration application from March 2012.

The source TFS project is 2013 and the target TFS project is 2012.

As for permissions, my user installed TFS both the source and target servers.  I have membership in Team Foundation Administrators, Team Foundation Service Accounts, Project Collection Administrators and Project Administrators so that shouldn't be an issue.

There is no TFS Integration Job Service as it is a one-time one-way migration.

I have successfully migrated work items for other projects using this same setup and this configuration did successfully check in some of the changes.

this is the end of the log from the session:

  • Hi,

As you mentioned you have successfully migrated work items for other projects, but this particular one. I'd like to confirm with you what's the difference between the problem team project and other team projects?

  • This project is on a different server than the projects that were successfully migrated.  That server is reached via HTTPS rather than HTTP.  I have tried to migrate it by starting from the root and by breaking the migration into pieces, but still trying to do the entire project at once.

The server I am running the migration on also hosts the TFS instance that I am migrating to.  The source project is in TFS 2012 and the database is in SQL Server 2008, as is the target TFS instance.

  • Hi,

    Do you use Proxy server?

I think you have found a workaround for your issue.

It seems that the error may occur when use a Proxy server for TFS. Have you tried to change the particular server environment to the same as others?

  • No proxy server is involved.  The only real difference between the environments is that one is running on port 8080 (target) and one on 443 (source).

I have tried only importing one branch instead of the entire project and received the same error.  Importing each branch specifically, but all at once yielded similar results.

I am still looking for an answer to this issue.

  • Hi,

Are you able to get latest version or check in/out in these two TFS servers? It seems that there are something wrong with the Version Control system.

    Thanks.

  • No issues with doing gets or check in/out on either server.  I thought I had some success when I uninstalled and reinstalled the integration tool to reset the integration database.  I've had to upgrade the target instance to TFS 2013 running on SQL Server 2012.  Parts of the project were successfully migrated, but I've just hit the same error trying to migrate just the main branch.
