Width of the both Columns in the Backstage RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to take control over the ColumWidhts in the Backstage

    Are the following assumptions correct?

    1)

When you define the width of the first Column with columnWidthPercent="30"

The second Column consumes the rest of the space

    2)

firstColumnMaxWidth  and  secondColumnMaxWidth do nothing in the Backstage

    3)

Using a Taskformgroup there means from that moment on you have a Static Width for both Columns

Thank you very much for any help with this,

  • Hi Lexydev,

<<When you define the width of the first Column with columnWidthPercent="30". The second Column consumes the rest of the space>>

    Yes, it is.

<<firstColumnMaxWidth  and  secondColumnMaxWidth do nothing in the Backstage>>

No, the firstColumnMaxWidth and secondColumnMaxWidth will do if them’s total width is less than the screen of the word. If them’s total width more than screen width columnWidthPercent will do.

<<Using a Taskformgroup there means from that moment on you have a Static Width for both Columns>>

No, the columns’ width can be change. Every column can have only one Taskformgroup.

    I hope it helps.

    Have a great day,

    Tom

  • Hi Lexydev,

You are right. We can change the width of Taskformgroup.

This is the snippet when I add second column in to the backstage. We can see the Taskformgroup dosen't change its width at all

By the way, you can insert your imge via html code.

    Have a great day,

    Tom

  • Hi Lexydev,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

Would you please clarify which columns you want to control? Are the columns table columns?

    Have a great day,

  • Hi Tom,

    Thank you for your response,

    Columns are Backstage Columns

There is only a first and second Column in the Backstage of Office 2010.

    Kind regards,

    Lx

  • Hi Tom,

    Thank you for your input.

But It does not work that way when I follow your advice.
I have one Taskformgroup with several Tasks and Categories.

Groups within the Task are shown in the Second Column
I have found that you can give the TaskformGroup the size Medium, which leads me to believe that width is fixed.

When I give both columns 100 pixels in the XML Tab tag, nothing changes

  • Hi Lexydev,

I think that the TaskformGroup’s minimum size is more than 100 px, so you setting can’t affect it.

This is a snipping of my word backstage. I hope it helps.

    Have a great day,

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing here.
    My backstage:
    TaskFormGroup

I tried to show a picture like you , but I guess I fail or have no rights to do so (a link will have to do)

    Grtz,
