how to install driver on local host RRS feed

  • i install wdk 8.1 and vs2013 from microsoft web site;

    i read and run example from microsoft website, but all of them is install other computer through setting deployment target  computer name;

    i only have one computer, are there some method to install driver on localhost computer?

  • So called "deployment" requires two computers. This is a good idea anyway (you don't want to crash your development machine).

    You can install the driver manually on any machine, even on your own.

  • The problem with one computer (and no virtual machines) is that you cannot debug the driver.  Kernel debugging requires one system to run the debugger and another to run the target.  If you are going to do driver development you really need two machines (or at least a system with a hypervisor and two virtual machines).
