ToolStripStatusLabel doesn't display if Text property is too long RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got this form with a StatusStrip on it, and on that StatusStrip is a ToolStripStatusLabel. I was having this bizarre problem where I'd set the text of the ToolStripStatusLabel, but it would only update some of the time. I figured out that if the ToolStripStatusLabel's Text property was too long to be displayed in the StatusStrip, it would just display nothing instead, not even a visual cue to indicate that the string was too long to be displayed. Wtf? Is there any way to stop this behaviour, and just display as much text as it can?

    Cheers.

  • The solution:
    ToolStripStatusLabel.Spring = True;
    ToolStripStatusLabel.TextAlign = MiddleLeft;

  • Sad to say, this is not the solution. You have to "shorten" the text in some appropriate way.
