WP cert fail: The application's long is presented in [Turkish] not natively supported in the OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • [was asked in  Developing for Windows Phone section first]

Our WP application has just been rejected with a following message:

The application's long is presented in [Turkish] not natively supported in the OS. For an application to be presented in a language not natively supported in the OS, its description must satisfy the following requirements:
    1. A statement to indicate the application is not in the targeted language.
    2. A full description text in the targeted language.
    3. A full description text in the language supported by the application.
    Result: Fail

    The same for Ukrainian

    What is "long"?

    • The app features UI and Windows Store descriptions properly localized into English, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian.
    • Localization cultures are en-US (default), ru-RU, uk-UA, tr-TR.
    • Application is 7.1 one.
    • Application title is localized using resource dll technique.

    I saw this: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpsubmit/thread/c146c99c-356c-4ffd-a0dd-38dc801e402d

BUT Turkish and Ukrainian are supported by Windows Store now, they are also supported languages on WP8.

    So what is going on?

How can we submit an app with Turkish and Ukrainian support?

Answers

  • Yes we did. We have Turkish description in Turkish, Russian in Russian etc. Screenshots and even app name are localized.

The day before yesterday we have modified localized descriptions and have re-submitted the app.

Localized descriptions are now as follows:

[This application is available in Turkish language on Windows Phone 8 only. On Windows Phone 7 application is available in English and Russian.

    --------------

    <English description>

    --------------

    <Turkish description>]

If we pass certification this time I'll let you know

  • The reference is to the Long Description.  "Description for the Store" is how this field appears in the submission process.

  • Danny, the real question is how can we have a wp7 app with uk-UA and tr-TR support be certified.

It makes little sense to write in localized description of a localized app that it does not support that language.

Converting to wp8 is not an option as our app uses XNA

  • I believe the main issue is #1 from your above post.

    1. A statement to indicate the application is not in the targeted language.

Within the submission process, did you remember to make the descriptions unique to each targeted language?

  • Ok guys.

We have passed certification with our 7.1 app featuring Turkish and Ukrainian localizations which are not supported in WP7.

The description hack in prev message did it.
