XNA Mesh Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
i have a problem with mesh loading. If a create a mesh composed by 2 object (for example a cube and a floor with 3d studio) when my 3d engine draws it, it draws the two object one above the other. If i draw a floor plan with some buildings, it draws all buildings at th center of the floor plan, without using the distances between the object. Some One can help me?

I loaded a ship model, and the engne draws it correctly. Maybe there is something to set up when i use the 3d studio?

    Sorry for my english...

  • That sounds like your model contains some internal hierarchy, and you aren't taking the bone transforms into account when drawing it.

You need to either flatten that hierarchy in your modeling program, or use the bones in your drawing code.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb203933.aspx is a good starting place for the right way to do this.

https://blogs.msdn.com/shawnhar/archive/2006/11/20/models-meshes-parts-and-bones.aspx has some more background information.
