Register Test Agent with Test Controller RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Have installed Test Agent & Test Controller in same domain & workgroup with user having admin rights on both machines.

Test Controller is configured properly without any issue but when I try to Register Test Agent with Test Controller I don't know the name of the Controller.

Not using TFS currently, what are advantages of using TFS with the above setup.

Want to use this setup for Load testing.

  • Hi,

When you register the test agent to test controller, you need to type the test controller name like test controller:6901. But the name does not mean the name of the test controller, it means the name of the machine which installs the test controller.

If we register test controller to a team project collection in TFS, then the test environment is called lab environment. In this case, we can use the lab environment with MTM to run tests from MTM in lab environment.

    Please see:

    Best regards,

  • Not very clear from your post....can you pls describe what you mean by same domain & workgroup?

Also, if you have installed controller yourself, how come you don't know the name of the controller? you can check IP/host name where you installed Test controller.

You can refer Ed Glas blog for detailed info:
