TC1.4.1 Does the application create files outside the application folder with proper icon, action and description? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m testing a server side application which leverages WSS 3.0

Our application does not install any files to the client machine as it is all browser based.

The caveat here is we allow the user to save an XML file with our own extension onto their local machine.

We also install files into the WSS folders (on the server side).

    So my questions are:

    ·         As we don’t install anything to the client machine how are we to install icons, friendly names and default actions? As the application is a server side application I assume this does not apply in our case?

    ·         If we install our components into WSS 3.0 as per the WSS recommendations. Are we still considered to be creating file outside the application folder?

    Regards,

    Chan

  • Hello again Chan

    1. With the given information, TC1.4.1 doesn't apply to your application.

    2. It is ok for your application to install components into WSS 3.0's recommended folders.
