Limit data storage to certain geo-locations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to guarantee that data is only stored at a certain geographical location.

This is important as, due to European laws and regulations, you are not allowed to store data that can be linked to your customers outside of the EU in a land that is considered unsafe (Even the US is considered unsafe concerning the privacy of personal data).

I read that geo-replication is not supported at the moment. Does this mean, that if I chose North europe as my SQL location, it is guaranteed that my data will stay in Europe?

    Thank you and best regards

Yes -- we will not move/copy/replicate your data outside of the region you select.

In the future, we might provide tools that allow you to copy/replicate data between any pair of locations but you will remain in control of the source and destination.
