want to hide a workbook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good afternoon all.

I know I have a macro to do this somewhere, but I'm not able to find it right now.

I have a workbook which opens each time I open Excel. I'm fine with the workbook being opened (I have macros in it which I use throughout the day), but I really want it hidden--- permanently, UNLESS I go to unhide it, myself.

I have recorded a macro to hide the workbook, but as with most macros, I want it to automatically activate, so I don't even have to see the workbook. How would I accomplish this?

  • You don't need a macro.

    • Start Excel.
    • Macro sure the workbook this is about is the active workbook.
    • Activate the View tab of the ribbon and click Hide in the Window group.
    • Quit Excel.
    • Excel will ask whether you want to save changes to the workbook.
    • Answer Yes. This is essential!

Next time you start Excel, the workbook will be hidden.
