How to send alert email when error occurs in Azure Functions? RRS feed

  • I have Azure Functions and is is logging to Application Insight.

    I'm hoping to create Alert rule, but wondering how. Resource selected is I suppose AI instance.

    What is Condition and required Signal name? What else is needed in configuration?

    Thank you for using Application Insights.

    Yes you are correct. Resource selected is AI instance.

    For the condition, you can select the below signal for starters:

    Click on Done.

    Once you have configured the condition, create a new Action Group and provide Alert Details.

    Then click on Create alert rule.

    Based on the above configurations, the rule will check the average failed requests per min over the last 5 minutes. If the number is greater than 5, then it will send an alert.

    You can modify the above values or even select a new signal based on your requirements.

    Alternatively, you can also create alert rules from the failure tabs, once you start seeing failures on the dashboard.
