\Dataset Designer Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • This started yesterday and boy was it a ticker. I went and added a column in a table in SQL, came back and modified the dataset, save my changes and got a generic error of
"An error occurred while creating the new data source:<error>"

I deleted the dataset from the project and tried to recreated it only to find the same error.

Is there a limit on how many tables you can have? I dont have but 29 and a few view and Functions.

    How can I resolve this?

  • Strongly typed DataSets are more to maintain as you are now discovering. Make sure you add the column in the Designer of your XSD and make any changes needed in the the filling of the DataTables or any other place where you are using.

    See this thread also:
An error occurred while creating the new data source

Since it seems identical to your issue.

  • Is this a strongly typed DataSet?

  • Yes it is. I played with it yesterday, noticed after having VS08 open for many hours is when this starts. I can close the program and reopen it, recreate the database without any problems.

Is this a resource issue with VS?
